Karlheinz Brandenburg

Karlheinz Brandenburg was a German audio engineer who was born June 20th, 1954. He is most well-known for the creation of the MP3 and MPEG file types which is used all around the world to save audio files and being a leader for digital audio; however, he also works in the field of perceptual measurement technique.He studied at Erlangen University and received a doctorate at Friedrich-Alexander University. Additionally, he won the 2004 IEEE Masura Ibuka Consumer Electronics Award, Audio Engineering Society Silver Medal, Board of Governors Award, and the 2021 DEGA Helmholtz Medal. Now, he is a university professor for TU Ilmenau.
